Fondation ART-THERAPIE

The aim of the foundation is to promote art therapy programmes for as many newborns, children and adolescents as possible in Swiss hospitals to improve their quality of life in the long term. Art therapy is a recognised form of therapy in Switzerland and an integral part of the treatment offered to sick children and adolescents in hospitals. As the World Health Organisation (WHO) (2019) and numerous studies have shown, non-invasive therapies promote and accelerate the healing process and have a long-term positive effect on the health of young patients and their families. However, Swiss hospitals are under strong cost pressure and the financial situation is particularly precarious in paediatrics. Without the support of the Fondation ART-THERAPIE, the art therapy programmes cannot continue or can only be carried out to a limited extent. Therapies by art are established in Switzerland as a recognised form of therapy and form an integral part of the hospital care services. As demonstrated by more and more scientific studies (WHO, 2019), these non-invasive treatments favour and accelerate the recovery process and have a positive long-term effect on the health of young patients and their families. However, Swiss hospitals are subject to strong pressure on costs and the financial situation is particularly precarious in paediatrics. Without the support of the ART-THERAPY Foundation, the art therapy programmes could not continue or could only continue on a limited basis.
