The purpose of the foundation is to use the foundation capital and its earnings as well as the funds collected through appeals for donations to set up and run five paediatric hospitals in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap Angkor (Cambodia) as well as a maternity clinic in Siem Reap Angkor (Cambodia). The foundation also supports the training of doctors and medical students in Cambodia. The Department for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has been supporting the Kantha Bopha children's hospitals for many years.
