Wallaby Association - Wild Animal Sanctuary, Nenzlingen
At our wild animal sanctuary, we have been fostering around 60 exotic wild animals for 40 years. The rearing of baby wallabies (Joeys) is particularly close to our hearts. As the only rescue centre in Switzerland for wallabies, babies find their way to us every year. When their mothers give up their lives, some of the offspring weigh only 340-620 grams. They arrive at our centre in this condition. We hand-rear 2-4 joeys every year. I get their special milk from Australia. The little ones get their milk every three hours, day and night. They lie in a fluffy bag on my body. Only when they are nine months old and weigh around 3kg do they leave their bag for good.
From then on, they are slowly integrated into the existing wallaby group on our spacious premises. Rearing and integration take up to a year. The animals reward my sleepless nights and the time invested with loving gratitude. We rely on important donations to be able to cover the enormous costs. Our special way of keeping our monkeys, birds and amphibians not only requires expertise, but also costs money. In order to help all the animals in a species-appropriate way, we are dependent on your support.
Please help us to save as many baby animals as possible from certain death in the future.
Thank you very much, Director Egli Jeanette
