The Swiss Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Sonos was founded in 1911 as the Swiss Welfare Association for the Deaf and Dumb. The services offered by the Swiss Association for the Hearing Impaired Sonos serve to improve the quality of life and self-determination of deaf people. The development of the free sign language learning programme gives deaf children and their parents access to barrier-free communication.
